MEYLE FIELDBUS ENCODERS EXCHANGE A MAXIMUM OF (13 X 16 BITS) INFORMATION BETWEEN THE ENCODER AND THE PLC USING ONLY 2 OR 4 WIRES. " FIELDBUS " PHILOSOPHY IS BASED ON A " PERSONALISED " EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE MACHINE CONTROLER OR PLC AND THE ENCODER. The encoder, identified by a single address (programmed either in the factory or by the end-user) responds to the request of the machine controller following recognition of the address. No risks of disharmony or telescoping of information: the encoders are questioned and answer one after the other! Requests and answers are forwarded on the same bus. FIELDBUSES : A SAFE AND FAST ROUTE BETWEEN ENCODERS AND MACHINE CONTROL. Faster, surer, able to transport more significant volumes of information in two directions, fieldbuses are like "motorways" simplifying exchanges between encoders and PLC. They are particularly well suited for applications where several encoders (and other sensors) exchange information with the same PLC. It is therefore possible to mount several encoders on the same bus. This allows complete integration of information and restitution of commands to and from the actuators (drives, switches, valves, etc...). A SIMPLE INFRASTRUCTURE: 2 OR 4 WIRES ARE ENOUGH TO TRANSFER ALL INFORMATION. The main advantage is the reduction of the number of wires. In fact, with only 4 wires - 2 for the data transmission and 2 for the power supply - 100 encoders are able communicate on a same bus. A SOLUTION FOR ALL WITH ONLY ONE TYPE OF ENCODER. Whereas the majority of the encoders on the market are limited technologically to 24 or 25 bits, MEYLE, thanks to the electronic method of counting revolutions, can handle up to 29 bits. Because of this, the user can increase the potential of the encoders. For example, a maximum resolution per rev. of13 bits, i.e. 8192 steps, can be chosen - with the maximum number of revs. - 16 bits i.e. 65536 rotations! Moreover, the user can adapt the functionality of the encoder to his needs: a single turn encoder easily becomes a multi-turn and the multi-turn is transformed into a rev. counter. Fieldbus is adapted for the new generation of encoders: open encoders. Whatever the applications, only one type of encoder is enough. ENCODERS ADAPT TO ALL TYPES OF ENVIRONMENT : corrosive atmospheres - marine environments, food-processing, chemical industries, iron and steel industry ...- electromagnetic interference or even hazardous environment.
